MEDICAL PILL CRUSHING DEVICE

In many countries in which pharmacies are not regulated, false fabrication of medication is a significant problem. Researchers have created a testing strip in which they can successfully test if a pill is legitimate or fabricated, but the medicine must first be crushed up into a fine powder, which can be difficult to complete on-site.

Using CAD and CAM software, as well as 3D printing and CNC machining, our group created a device which could successfully crush a pill into powder form, distribute the powder over the testing strip, and secure the powder on the surface for testing.
